Q: If a plastic can be recycled, what is its functionality?
Plastic can be recycled in many ways. The process of recycling determines its application and functionality.
Plastic melted without oxygen and without flames do not burnout but just melts. This plastic can be re-used as a new one like the plastic used to make water/coke bottles.
Plastic melted in presence of atmospheric air will be burnt and give thick residue. This will be used to make hard plastic surfaces for floors, roads, machinery beds etc.
some applications o not need melting of plastic, but can be used as it it, like making of plastic ropes, hand crafts etc.
Light plastic (polyethene) can be recycled to make similar items from which it is melted like plastic carrybags etc.
