Why is it important to understand your own frame or mental model as a transformation leader? Based on readings thus far in the course (Reframing Organizations), describe elements of your own frame or mental model and discuss the benefits and limitations of this approach. (Atleast 800 words)
Mental model means a concept which useful to understand how something is working. It useful to understand the life. There are different types of mental models available, by leaning each mental model; you can see the world around you in different way. For suppose, Game theory is a mental model which help to understand the importance of relationships and trust and they are working.
Transformational leader is a person who can mingle with his or her people to understand their ideas, thoughts, and feelings and prepare them to face change through inspiration.
This Mental model is very important to transformational leaders because they should understand everything and useful to difficult challenges of leadership because mental models are useful to understand the situation, people, process etc…
Transformational leaders can make better choices and take better actions by these mental models, we can simply say that mental models are very important to understand the entire world. So that transformational leaders can develop their leadership skills and they can lead their people more effectively with these mental models.
Reframing organization consist four important frames from which we view the world, those are Structural, Human, Resources and Symbolic.
These frames are useful to understand many things and useful to get some experience. Form these frames we can learn how to do the job in easy way.
Structural frame consist goals, roles, formal relationships and structures which fit to the organization. it also consists rules, responsibilities, procedures of the organization. If structure does not suitable to the organization, we will face many problems.
Human Resources frame concentrate on human resources and it treats organization as a family and useful to understand feelings, needs, skills, and useful secure old attitude and beliefs
It useful to find the best way to complete the work by people and be happy them in the work place.
Political frame mainly concentrate on power, here organizations consider as jungles and different people fighting for power and resources. We can face problems when power is placed and concentrated in wrong places and used in wrong way.
Symbolic Frame treats organizations as theater, where every person should play their role very well. If actors are not playing well or badly, organization will face many problems.
There are different mental models like
Strong analogy, Surrogate, Mapping, Vocabulary and Problem spacing.
My own mental model is Problem spacing, now I would like to explain it and its elements.
Problem spacing means a framework which is useful to define the problem clearly and finding the solution for it and it consist different elements.
Problem spacing means a tools which can create a resolution for a problem. This technique is useful to find the other or alternative solution for your problem. For example, your friend birthday and you ordered a gift online but gift still not reached, this is the problem presently you are facing, then you should think about it and find the alternative, the alternative is to buy another gift from local shop and present it to your friend.
This is the you can solve the problem; to identify the problem in correct time and solve it before your friend understand is called as problem spacing.
It consist different elements, those are
Defining the problem
This element is useful to define the problem clearly or you can understand the exact problem so that you can think how to solve that.
Find the solution
This element useful to identify the different solutions for that problem and useful to choose the best one among them.
Implementing a correct solution
This element guide you to implement the perfect solution for the problem, so that you can solve the problem as soon as possible.
