Ans.
Traditional leadership theories focused on that the leaders are
born with the quality of the leadership like influencing , getting
things done , strategic thinking, planning , organization and
directing abilities. This focused more on the transactional aspect
of getting things done by leader.
Contemporary theories focused on the transformational aspect of
leadership and more as a servant leader.
Emerging leadership theories argue that leaders are not just born
but people can be trained and through experience they can learn the
competencies of the leadership such as inspiring , transformin g
organisations or their employees, situational adaptability,
strategic thinking and more as adaptive style of the leadership and
not just being fixated to one particular style.
Advantages of using these theories is that the company can groom
their managerial talent to take up the leadership roles in the
organization and help company to succeed in the competitive
marketplacs. Also it helps companies to grow and retain top talent
and contribute to growth of nation by creating better and happy
workforce. Challenges can be leadership grooming is not just
science but also art. All the managerial personnel may not succed
in their leadership journey or after being groomed they may leave
the company to a competitor .
