Suggest 5 strategies two improve on Malaysia’s HDI
HDI is a composite development index considering indicators such as life expectancy, education, and per capita income. HDI increases as the three indicators increase. According to the 2017 HDI report by UNDP, Malaysia ranked 57 in the world. To improve the HDI, factors affecting HDI needs to be improved.
1) More investments in the social sector need to be encouraged. Investments in crucial areas like health, education, infrastructure. At the same time, policies promoting subsidization of social sector development should e promoted.
2) Policies promoting schooling and education should be implemented. As education increases, HDI will increase.
3) Education should be sunsidised to attract more people and encourage them to finish school.
4) The growth rate of income can be increased through higher investments in productive activities. As income increases, per capita income will increase.
5) Adoption of good governance technique to come up with a set of comprehensive reforms affecting the development of the country.
