Describe and explain in detail the nine things that could impede the successful implementation of health policy after Congress delegates to federal agencies the health policy it wants carried out

Solutions

Expert Solution

The congress sometimes delegates the authority to carry out some specific tasks or handle some specific department for a specific period of time. The work is delegated to the federal agencies, these are the special government organizations whose special purpose is to manage the resources or implement some policy.

The nine things that can hinder proper implementation of the health policy are:

  • Not understanding the complexity of the policy: the policy makers might not understand the importance of the policy attached to the society and overall economy. Thus leading to faulty implementation of the policy.
  • Not able to accommodate the needs of the patients: the federal agency might not be able to meet the needs of the patients and default in providing services to them, hence improper implementation.
  • Difficulty in providing the patients with right kind of services as and when needed: if right kind of services are not provided to the patients at the right time, this might lead to faulty implementation and failure of the entire health policy.
  • Tough to match up to the latest clinical guidelines: it might not be easy to follow all the guidelines given by the government and serving the society without defaulting. Not following clinical guidelines can attract punishments in future.
  • Lack of resources with the agency: the federal agency can face problems in implementation if adequate resources are not available with them. This can hinder their work to a large extent and lead to failure.
  • Lack of coordination with the congress: if the plan is not properly communicated by the congress, then it can result into mismatch between what is expected to be done and what is actually done. Thus faulty implementation.
  • No taking into consideration the social, political and economic variables: if the federal agency do not take into consideration the society, the political importance attached and the growth and benefit to the entire economy then there will be fault in implementation of the policy.
  • Lack of stringent control on the implementation part: if federal agency in itself loses control over the policy and compromises on one or the other terms, then the result will be hindrance in implementation part.
  • Ineffectively deciding on the terms of the policy: if the entire layout of how the policy will be implemented is not framed out effectively then ultimately number of problems will crop up in implementing the policy in an effective manner.
