Explain why "transduction" does not occur for signaling pathways that employ an intracellular receptor.

Explain why "transduction" does not occur for signaling pathways that employ an intracellular receptor.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution

Intracellular receptor has intrinsic transcriptional activity because it contains

  • DNA binding domain
  • Ligand binding domain
  • Transcriptional activating domain

So there is no need of secondory messanger and protein kinase phosphorylation cascade for acheive targeted responce or effect in signal transduction.

So no need of signal transduction cascade because its ligands are small and hydrophobic and ligand binding domain also hydrobhobic in nature.

Complete answer is explained in following image.
