Select an answer for each of the following. [Note: You may use an answer more than once.]

Na+  Ti2+ P   Te2-  O   C

Has the largest ionic radius

Neutral atom with the largest first ionization energy

Is isoelectronic with Ne

Has 3 unpaired electrons

Has an electron configuration of [Ar] 3d2

Neutral atom with the largest effective nuclear charge

Solutions

Expert Solution

Te2- has the largest ionic radius- being in the fifth period already have five shells and by accepting two electrons the size is further increased.
O- atom has the largest first ionization energy- Due to small size electrons are held strongly with nucleus

Na+ is isoelectronic with Ne- As neutral na has 11 electrons, Na+ after losing one electron have 10 electrons like Ne

P has 3 unpaired electrons- The electreonic configuration of P is [Ne].3s2.3p3 . It has one unpraired electron in p-orbitals

Ti2+ has an electron configuration of [Ar].3d2-The actual configuration of Ti is [Ar].3d2.4s2but on losing 2 electrons of  s-orbital it become Ti2+.

O-atom has the largest effective nuclear charge-
