What type of signaling are steroids and polypeptides involved in?

a. Autocrine

B. Endocrine

C. Juxtacrine

E. Synaptic

Solutions

Expert Solution

Cells can detect whats going on around them & they can respond it from their neighbours & environment.

2 kinds of cellular communication- communication between cells is called intercellular & communication within the cells is called interacellular signalling.

types of signalling -

1. Autocrine- a cell target itself.

2.Endocrine - a cell targets a distant cell through a blood stream. eg: steroid hormones

3. Juxtacrine- involves communication between cells that are in direct contact with each other.

4. Synaptic - it is found in the nervous system. Here signalling occurs between 2 nerve cells.

b. Endocrine signalling is the type of signalling are steroids & polypeptides involved in.
