Determine the volume of h2s (at 325k and 1.50 ATM) needed to produce 50.0g of s. Asssume that there is excess so2 present.
2 H2S(g) + SO2(g) ---> 3S (s) + 2 H2O(g)

Solutions

Expert Solution

2 H2S(g) + SO2(g) ---> 3S (s) + 2 H2O(g)

3 moles of S produced from 2 moles of H2S

3*32g of S produced from 2*34g of H2S

50g of S produced from = 2*34*50/3*32    = 35.4 g of H2S

PV = nRT

n = W/M

molar mass of H2S (M) = 34g/mole

weight of H2S (W)          = 35.4g

                         T            = 325K

                        P             = 1.5atm

           PV   = WRT/M

             V   = WRT/PM

                   = 35.4*0.0821*325/1.5*34   = 18.52L >>>>answer

volume of H2S = 18.52L
