Choose three (3) internal selection factors that you believe would be most reliable for promoting employees within an organization. Next, describe two (2) reasons why an individual should consider these three (3) factors when promoting employees within an organization. Justify your response.
In my opinion the three factors that would be most reliable for promoting employees within an organization includes experience, job performance and attendance. These three factors would help to determine whether the employee would be able to perform well in the new position or not. Experience is a major factor because experience helps to develop skills and knowledge required to perform the job better. Experienced employees also would have more knowledge on the company culture and values which needs to be given more importance while taking decisions particularly in higher positions. Job performance helps to determine the candidate’s ability to take up new responsibilities and perform as expected. Job performance also shows how far the person can be relied upon in the case of critical activities in the new role. Attendance is also a major reliable factor because it shows the chances of employee going for vacation or leave in critical situations. Higher positions require the employee presence more frequently and hence the candidate should show higher attendance and lower absenteeism. Attendance also shows the commitment of the employee towards work and organization and also the level of employee satisfaction. As the commitment as well as job satisfaction increases the chances of employee to stay in the organization also increases.
