Children should give OTC drug for cough prevention after advice of Doctor..

If the Doctor has not prescribed these drug,,then it should be avoided..

These type of drug reduce the cough in a rapid manner but it has many side effects..

So,,Before prescribing this drug,, it should be assessed that any other underlying disease condition is present or not in the child..

Child's health history should be taken before prescribed the drug..

Children below the age 6 should not given this type of Drug..

2) Prevention of OTC drug in prevention of acute cough in Adult--

OTC drug is very much helpful for prevent cough in case of adult.

If any hypersensitivity or allergic reaction is created with the presence of these drug,,then it should be avoided..

Weight should be checked before prescribing the drug..

Assess for any underline disease condition.. (like- heart disease,Kidney disease)
