What are some connections between the outputs of photosynthesis and your life, and the life of most animals on the planet?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Photosynthesis is one of the most important bioprocesses, whose importance for humans and most animals on the earth cannot be overestimated in the maintenance of life. Some of the main connections between the outputs of photosynthesis and all forms of life are described below:-

  • One of the major outputs of photosynthesis is Oxygen. If photosynthesis is stopped, then most of the organisms would not be able to survive, as the environment would become nearly devoid of gaseous oxygen (with an exception of certain chemosynthetic bacteria, which uses chemical energy of inorganic compounds and hence are not dependent on the conversion of light energy.
  • Other major product of the phosynthesis process is glucose, which is stored in the plants. This is very important source of food and other organic matter on earth. Majority of organisms are dependent on plants for their food.
  • Photosynthesis is also involved in energy production in the form of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas, which are accumulated over the years. These powers the industries and are used for household needs of fuels. Also this process is important for maintaining the gaseous balance of the environment.
