Explain why the broadening diversity of the US workforce is making EEO issues a more necessary component of SHRM.
Broadening diversity of the US workforce has indeed led to the acceptance and implementation of laws that protect the rights and interests of all the employees of the company without regarding their race, caste, gender, religion, etc.
Therefore SHRM has come up with the EEO or the Equal Employment Opportunity standards that do not create any wall between any person from applying or working in a company.
The US workforce over the years has developed and now consists not only of American men but women and also immigrants, handicapped/disabled people and therefore it is necessary and most importantly a necessary component of the SHRM.
Many companies work globally and employ people from all over the world, hence favoritism and discrimination among people regarding their race/caste/pay-scale, etc. had to be managed so that the workforce stays motivated and also the society at large is not of the impression that they cannot or are not allowed to showcase their skills and knowledge just because they are not from the same caste/religion or if they are disabled.
To conclude, it is now the utmost necessity that all people must be treated as same, whether during pre-employment screening, during employment work conditions, pay scale, promotions/demotions and while termination.
