How does altruism differ from cooperation? Give an example of organisms that exhibit each of these behaviors, and describe the behavior and how it meets the criteria for either cooperation or altruism. How could both of these systems evolve? Could you imagine an organism that employs BOTH behaviors? Explain.
The subject is biology. topic behavior ecology
Altruism is nothing but behavior in which an organism benefits another without benefiting oneself whereas cooperation is a behavior where two or more individual gets involved and gets mutually benefitted. An example of altruism is Dolphin which helps the sick or injured animals under them for hours at a time and pushing them to the surface so they can breathe. Altruism is a selfishlessness behaviour.Mostly the cooperative behaviors are seen in birds where they share their food so that they can be mutually benefited. An example is seen in female vampire bat when females feed their young ones they are unable to feed themselves so other females share the food they collected.
