According to AMERICAN COUNSELLING ASSOCIATION (ACA), it is unethical to have a dual relationship or multiple relationship. So here in this case , it is unethical what the therapist had done.It is important for every counsellor to keep in mind what are the ethics that should be followed during their counselling practice.

for instance : if a therapist is attracted towards his or her client, they the therapist can follow the following steps:

therapist should make sure the boundries between them and explain the client about the limits, avoid having conversation that leads to something un related to the counselling goal and concept, if the therapists started to have a desire over the client then the therapist should terminate or refer the client to some other counsellor.

so before starting the counselling process , client should be explained about the things that has to be followed and after that only counselling should be given.
