What is the result of allowing more foreign workers and restricting immigration? What is the result of these contradictions in the U.S. economy? (3-4 paragraphs)
The federal government is allowing more visas for foreign
workers to take temporary jobs in landscaping, housekeeping, and
other fields. It is restricting immigration in it's economy by
sealing off the border with Mexico, where majority of immigrant
workers come from. The visas will provide legal status for
immigrants in temporary nonfarm employment with hotels,
restaurants, landscaping companies, amusement parks, and various
other industries.
The business groups push the makers of law to increase or eliminate the cap on the number of visas issued, a demand that has rose as unemployment has reduced and domestic workers becoming scarcer. The argument from unions and immigration opponents are that hiring workers on visas suppresses wages and deprives Americans of employment.
On contrary those who favor it say foreign workers are usually exploited and employers say the cap encourages companies to hire workers who are in the nation illegally. They can reap tremendous gains from opening its doors to immigrants and students, skilled labor and others who may only live in the nation for shorter periods of time. Several areas in United States lack the working-age population thus the foreign workers can help to meet the demand for seasonal jobs.
