The Introduction section of the scientific article mentions the goal of the study. This section established the context of the work being reported, by discussing the research literature. It summarizes all the relevant information required to understand the problem that is being investigated. It states the goal of the work in form of hypothesis, question, or problem investigated. It also briefly mentions the possible outcomes of the study in short.
Introduction describes:
1) The rationale behind the study: The research problem and subject of analysis to address the problem are described.
2) Importance of the study: The significance of the research problem is described.
3) The literature review: The background information to help reader is added. It is explained why this study was performed.
4) New knowledge obtained from the study: It is explained what new knowledge can be obtained from the study.
