Solutions

Expert Solution

One needs to negotiate certain terms and conditions of employment with his employer during the time of appointment in a job which is called mandatory subjects of bargaining. Mandatory subjects of bargaining include wages, working hours, health care and pension benefits, contract length, overtime pay, sick leave, promotion etc. Failing to bargain the mandatory subjects with the employer will violate the labour rights and removes the credibility of good faith from the employer. So it is very important to negotiate the mandatory subjects of bargaining legally with the employer in public sectors in order to have a workers' friendly environment. Health care benefits will be one of the example that I would like to negotiate with the employer as having a health care coverage provided by the employer will keep me tension free from all the expanses required for medical treatments. When employees provide health insurance, productivity of employers increases as they can concentrate more on their work rather than worrying about their health issues and its expanses. Besides pension would be an example of mandatory subject of benefits that I would like to negotiate with the employer as it would help me to survive with dignity after my retirement. The third example will be overtime dues which is also very important to negotiate with the employer which ensures the rights of workers by preventing the employer from exploiting his employees by making them work beyond the working hours.
