Amazon sells hundreds of thousands of tangible products. Yet they say they are in the service business. Assess the Amazon brand elements and equity in relation to the service attributes.
1. Amazon is the leading business firm that deals in the service industry because it transfers the products to the consumers. The company does not manufacture the product. The company provides the services of a broad set of cloud-based storage, databases, security, and different enterprise applications. Service attributes are the customer-specific attributes that help the businesses to store the data in their database. Hence, Amazon uses the attributes of could based storage and the Internet of Things.
2. The company can use the branding decision of brand development. Brand development includes the decision of line extension and brand extension. The company should extend its line of product to attract a broad strata of the target audience. For instance: Amazon has decided to extend its product line in the field of groceries to support the Covid-19 pandemic situation. It is the essential and most crucial decision to suit the business environment.
3. There are many concerns about adopting a new and improved service. The first issue is unable to clear the answers of the employees or stakeholders. The managers might face the issue of answering the questions of the employees about the new service technology. The second issue is to fail to identify the needs of the customers. Sometimes, the managers might not act proactively and exclude the consumers' needs. The solution to the issue is that the managers should check on the consumers' needs and wants in the market.
4. There are many characteristics of services: intangibility, inseparability, and variability. The services in Amazon are intangible, and the users cannot see it. The next characteristic is that the services are inseparable from the company. The separation of service and service providers is not possible. Amazon can improve the services by taking necessary actions to adopt the new technology and innovation. The company should also motivate and incentivize the employees to adopt the new technology and improvement in services.
