System and Acquisition process

System Acquisition process refers to the process by which a Healthcare organisation select a Health information system . The process of System Acquisition needs the organisation to go through different steps for   adapting a Health information system.

Stake holders

Stake holders, who should involve in System Acquisition process of a Health care organization are top management, patients, physician, insurance companies, government, pharmaceutical companies.

* Top management or employers : are one of the main stake holder , should be involved in System Acquisition process. Organisation's Health care mission may get added with the value related to the Health information system. Employers have to take a final decision on the System Acquisition process.  

* Patients: Patients are one of the important stake holder of the Healthcare organisation. They should have the idea about information processing system, confidentiality and security/ safety of their personal information, its storage, acess etc. Patients also should get an opportunity to express their willingness on adapting a particular Health information system or can get the suggestions or feedback from them.

* Physicians:  The type of Health information system, adapted by the Health care organization, can affect physicians and their duty of care also. System Acquisition process should involve the participation from Physician also for its adaptation to the Healthcare facility. The Health information system should allow easy and secure gathering, compiling and analysing the health data.

* Insurance companies : Insurance companies are in effort to maintain the balance between their responsibilities towards the patient and the share holders. An efficient EHR makes their work easy for analysing the needed data of a client , necessary for insurance procedures.  

* Government : Government is one of a major stake holder of the Healthcare organisation. Government intermediaries can be benefited by a good Health information system . It helps in Health care reforms and implementation of innovative strategies and Governmental projects or policies.

* Pharmaceutical companies : A good Health information system also helps the pharmaceutical companies as many patient depends on their products. Conversation or deails regarding drugs and other medical products can make available in the system, so patient or physician can access it.

* Employees , especially billing saff: Employees especially billing team , marketing team etc can be greatly benefited by a good and efficient EHR system. Certain Health information system allows excellent functioning, automatic scheduling , online patient portals, appointment reminders etc that largely help the organisational employees to reduce their burden in the work.
