Chapter 2 Learning Process
To what extent is feedback and reinforcement possible without an instructor present during the learning process.
During a learning process, it is very important that there should be presence of an instructor since in the absence of an instructor there is a psychological mechanism that takes place, referred to as turning off. Turning off occurs when there is inhibition of those behaviours that include self-directed efforts or rehearsal. In the absence of an instructor there occurs Conditioned inhibition. When a person is practising a new behaviour, there must be an instructor who would provide information about the correctness of the action. Self informative feedback is very difficult amddele de on the ability of the child to achieve the approximations that have been planned. Moreover, if there is a difference in readiness, reinforcement of a behavior in the absence of an instructor will be even more difficult. If there occur forced practice where there are no internal reinforcements, there would be extinction of the practiced behaviour.
