To write a paper on optimisation of water resources the time elapsed for me is not sufficient but I will try to provide you the key components of a optimization of water resources.
The term optimisation means utilisation of resources effectively And we know the term water resources describe the water source.
On a whole, optimisation of water resources can be say that "utilisation of water resources in an effective manner".
The concept of optimisation of water resources can be included in the conservation of water resource and sustainable development also.
If we know the extent of usage of water in the area's like irrigation, drinking, sanitation, hydro power generation, industrialization...etc then we can adopt best methods to save wastage.
Optimisation of water resources can be achieved by reducing wastage of water in the above mentioned areas.
According to the recent surveys conducted globally nearly 70 percentage of water being used in agriculture. So if we focus more on agriculture then optimisation of water resources can be achieved some extent.
Countries like America, Australia, China, Italy, India..etc are using more water for irrigation and constructed many water storage works.
In view this America developed many softwares to estimate the water. Hydrologic engineering centre (HEC) was developed a software called HES-MES to estimate the water in the rivers and canals.
Country like " Lebanon " changed their agriculture pattern to save water.
China has changed their Reservoir maintenance Technics.
Many mathematical systems are evolved to estimate the water resources accurately. I am mentioning some of them
Fuzzy Decision System (FUDS)
HES-MES,
IHACRES,
SWAT,
WEAP..etc
Systems for river water
River basin management,
Integrated water resources management (IWRM )
systems for ground water
embedding approach,
optimal control approach,
unit response matrix approach.
systems for water supply
Hardy-cross method,
Newton-Raphson method,
Linear theory method
