Many projects do not allow enough time and become rushed at the end. How does the Project Manager prevent this from happening?

Solutions

Expert Solution

A project manager needs to have a proper project plan on the basis of the deliverables and the resource available. The project manager should not be too optimistic about setting the timelines and committing a deadline for a project. There can be various developments, contingencies or new information or knowledge because of which the scope of the project might change or expand. Such a change of expansion of project plan might necessitate more time to complete the project. Therefore, a project manager needs to be less optimistic and be more realistic to set project deadlines.

Also, a project manager needs to schedule project activities and allocate resources in an efficient way to optimize utilization of the available time. A project manager needs to charts (like Gantt chart) and quantitative techniques (like CPM and PERT) in order to schedule activities and allocate resources to utilize time and resources effectively.

While there may be phases or tasks within a project that have been done before, the outcome will be unique.
