• Educational inequality refers to the unequal treatment between the socially forward and backward communities. It refers to the unequal distribution of educational rights, educational resources and services like the textbooks, teachers, bus services, academic training sessions etc.
• Just like how we measure income inequality, we can also measure educational inequality using Lorenz curve and gini coefficient of inequality.
• It is very important to measure the degree of educational inequality in a country because it helps in identifying how education is being distributed all over the country among the population. This analysis will help the reformers in estimating the socially backward communities who are not getting equal educational rights, with which they can put forward many policies to eradicate these inequalities to a certain extent and help those backward communities to come up from their present situation.
