Draw a diagram in which Nature and Nurture appear at opposite ends of a continuum. Come up with 10 traits that you can place at various locations along this continuum. So, you should have at least some traits that you believe are very (or maybe completely) influenced by genetic factors, and some traits that are similarly influenced by the environment, AND several traits that are a mishmash of these to varying degrees.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Nature and nurture: The combination of the two concepts are complementary. The debate on the term involves whethar the human behaviour is determined by the environment, either prenatal or during person's life or by a person's gene.

Nature

Nurture

Refers to genetics and all the factors that are inherited.

Refers to the variables of the environment. Things you get from the world around after you were born.

Example: The physical and personality traits determined by your genes stay the same irrespective of where you were born and raised.

Example: Nurture refers to your childhood, or how you were brought up.

Depends on Biological and family factors

Depends on Social and environmental factors

The nature of an individual’s behavior plays a big role.

Nurture shapes the individual’s character.

Focus on genetic, hormonal and neurochemical explanations of behavior.

All behavior is learned from the environment through conditioning.
