Question 5 – Draw a diagram which illustrates the difference between a multi-line queue and a single-line queue.

Multi-line queue:

• In Multi-line queue, users has flexibility to select the line in which they desire.
• If there is only one line, user has no option to select the line and to wait until he gets a chance to contact with the server. Multi-line queue provides options to user to select any line.
• User in particular line has to contact the particular server only. There is no chance or difficulty to get into the other line.
• User can select the server which provides the best services.
• If any server operation fails, all the users in that line has to loss the time

Single-line queue:

• Single-line queue has lesser average waiting time.It looks like more average time in single line queue but it has less average time compared to the multi-line queue.
• Single-line queue follows first come first serve.So it is the best possible way to serve the users.
• Single-line queue reduces the jockeying. It means user no need to think about the selection of the best server.He served with the first come first serve basis.
• User has to definitely follow single line only.
• If any server operation fails, he has availability of other servers.
• Time consumption for user is less compared to multi-line queue.
