How can humans face the challenge of maintaining our ecosystem so that it can sustain diverse species? What role does understanding the impact of the formation of new species and the extinction of others play in facing this challenge? Will humans be just another primate to go extinct?
Human-modified ecosystems are shaped by our activities and their side effects. They share a common set of traits including simplified food webs, landscape homogenization, and high nutrient and energy inputs. Ecosystem simplification is the ecological hallmark of humanity and the reason for our evolutionary success. On the other hand poor resource practices as now pravalises is threaten our future.
Sustainibility of challanging ecosystem is the outcome of balance between extinction of old species and formation of new species. they play a vital role as old species contribute as a resource for new species and formation new species is the consequences of continous evolutionary change. To survive in the changed ecosystem old species modified itself and when it can't , extinction is the only result. New species also face the challenges in terms of acceptance in the new community and ecosystem.
Yes, if the humans activity is goes towadrs destroying the ecosystem or tends to create imbalance , catastrophic change in the ecosystem extinct the human and might be raise some other primate suitable for conseving the ecosystem.
