(Answer) The age of enlightenment marked the end of ‘absolutism’. The attributes that encapsulated this age was that people believed that the power of the government should be in the hands of the people. It was an age where freedom of thought and expression were finally encouraged. This age put a dent in the powers of the absolute because it was an age of new ideas and equality. This was an age where rationality was winning over despotism.
The events that most exemplified the Age of Enlightenment, was that the colonies finally started to resent the imperial rulers. This is what sparked discontent among individuals who were subjugated by the British rule in several nations.
