Consider this question: What are the ethical and legal responsibilities of the nurse who believes a home care patient needs to be cared for in a hospital or that a home care patient needs to continue to receive care and not be discharged from the service?
A nurse is the medical professional that a patient sees more than the any other. The nurse used to monitor the patient's illness, his response to the medication, and general conditions. There are some legal issues and ethical responsibilities associated with the nursing practice.
Many patients with advanced diseases would prefer to be cared and die at home. A professional responsibility is to develop the nurse and patient relationship. The central duties of nurses are beneficence, non-maleficence, respect for autonomy, and justice.
The choice of a patient is considered as ethically desirable. Promoting the choice about where and how healthcare is received help in enhancing the patient's quality of life. To identify the patients need of a discharge planning is the ethical duty of a nurse.
A nurse is allowed to examine the patient to confirm that if, a patient is in the position of discharge. A nurse ensures that if, it is safe to discharge the patient for home care. If a patient ask for the home care but, he need the hospital care than a nurse can use her nurse and patient relationship.
