Oprah Winfrey’s actions relate to the LMX model in the following way:
The LMX model or Leader-Member exchange model is a relationship based approach of leadership where the focus is on two way relationship between the leaders and their subordinates/followers.
The LMX model fosters and boosts employee morale because the employees feel connected to the people sitting at leadership position in the organization, they think they are being heard and have a role in the decision making process. A connect with employees makes the environment positive which is necessary ingredient for employee morale.
The overall organizational gets benefited with the positive relationship between the managers and employees, as relationships are based on trust and respect, the employees create a positive attitude and respect for the leadership while the leadership creates a feeling of trust for the employees thus creating the flow of communication more smooth amongst hierarchies in the organization.
Team development is a process which requires trust, mutually beneficial relationship and a sense of responsibility. LMX provides the organization to achieve the required qualities with it and thus an excellent team building is possible.
