Solutions

Expert Solution

There are many forms of feedback one can use in the classroom setting. Two of these are through questions and appreciation. It is important for a teach to ask questions instead of only teaching. By asking questions, she elicites responses from the class, making communication more two-way. It also ensures that the students are paying attention as they must listen to answer the questions. Through asking questions, teachers are also able to engage their children in the class. Questions by the children can also be seen as a form of feedback as it shows the willingness of the children to learn more and to assess what they are learning.
Appreciation is another important form of feedback. It is essential that the teacher recognises efforts made by the children and applauds them for their work. By doing so, the child is encompassed with a feeling of satisfaction and achievement. If a child displays any good behaviour or is slowly stamping out bad behaviour, by appreciating the child's efforts, the teacher is able to make sure that the good behaviour is repeated and bad behaviour is stopped.
However, it is important for the teachers to not stick to only a few forms of feedback but keep switching it up based on the student's needs and learning styles. Each student is different, and a custom made feedback should be adopted to match their needs. It is important that feedback is genuine because once the child feels that the teacher is being more robotic, his efforts would start to diminish.
