In the buzzock, slimy (S) is dominant to rough (s), and tall (T)
is dominant to short (t). You cross a short rough female with a
tall slimy male, and obtain the following offspring
24 tall slimy
29 tall rough
27 short slimy
28 short rough
If the two genes are unlinked you expect the following ratio: 1 tall slimy : 1 tall rough : 1 short slimy : 1 short rough. test whether the S and T genes are linked or not using a chi-square test and the null hypothesis that inheritance of alleles each locus is independent (i.e. they are unlinked). NOTE: correct answer is 0.16 chi value with 1 degree of freedom
If the null hypothesis is that inheritance of each allele locus is independent so alternative hypothesis will be the opposite ones.
If p value is less than 0.05 , we will accept alternate hypothesis.
And here degree of freedom cannot be 1 because we are comparing 4 phenotypes here. We can't be comparing two phenotypes because then only dof will be 1.
