Tall is dominant over short, green seeds is dominant over yellow seeds. Give the result ( GENOTYPES AND PHENOTYPES) from the cross below.
p- Homozygous Tall /Green x Homozygous Short/Yellow

F1- ?

F2- ?

**Any monohybrid cross results in A 3:1 Ratio
**Any dihybrid cross results in A 9:3:3:1 Ratio

Expert Solution

For the given situation above, lets height is presented by genotype T for tall and t for short and seed colour is presented by genotype G for green and g for yellow seed colour.

the genotype of the parent - TTGG( Homozygous Tall /Green) X ttgg(Homozygous Short/Yellow)

Both the parents will produce a single type of gametes each i.e. TG type from Homozygous Tall /Green and tg type from Homozygous Short/Yellow.

The cross will produce F1 generation which will show TtGg genotype and heterozygous Tall/Green phenotype.

The offspring from F1 generation will produce different kinds of gametes i.e. TG, Tg, tG, tg

When we'll self cross the F1 generation the following fill be observed

TG Tg tG tg
TG TTGG TTGg TtGG TtGg
Tg TTGg TTgg TtGg Ttgg
tG TtGG TtGg ttGG ttGg
tg TtGg Ttgg ttGg ttgg

TTGG -  Tall /Green

TTGg -  Tall /Green

TtGG - Tall /Green

TtGg - Tall /Green

TTGg - Tall /Green

TTgg - Tall/Yellow

TtGg - Tall /Green

Ttgg - Tall/yellow

TtGG - Tall/Green

TtGg - Tall /Green

ttGG - short/Green

ttGg - Short/Green

TtGg - Tall /Green

Ttgg - Tall/Yellow

ttGg - Short/ Green

ttgg - Short/Yellow

From the above cross in F2 generation total 4 types of phenotypes were observed i.e. Tall/Green, Tall/Yellow, Short/Green, Short/Yellow in 9:3:3:1 ratio.
