DNA mutations can occur in a variety of ways. Choose one of the ways that DNA mutations can occur that you are learning about this week, identify and briefly describe it.
Then, choose a genetic mutation (it can be from your textbook, one you are aware of, or one you learn about through your research of this topic), and describe the type of mutation that it involves.
Consider if it affects the ability of the organism to produce proteins correctly, if it alters part or an entire chromosome, etc. Provide a picture of a karyotype or subject with this mutation (use of internet photos is fine, but remember to give credit to the photographer/illustrator). It can affect humans, animals, plants, bacteria - there are lots of different kinds!
Discuss with your classmates potential practical effects that one might see with this mutation, versus others. Please be sure to review your posts for accuracy in the discussion of these mutations (keep in mind that opinions and blogs do not always provide factual information, try to rely on journal articles and peer reviewed scientific research).

DNA mutation are changes in DNA occurred during DNA replication by mistake, it can also happen due to environmental factors like UV and ciggerate smoke etc.
DNA mutation can be of three types:
1. Base substitution
2. Insertion
3. Deletion.
A deletion type of DNA mutation is very dangerous in most cases , as deletion of even one base or more changes the whole reading frame of the protein. It creates a frame shift mutation. Which might not allow for the predestined protein to form , or even it is formed might be deleterious.
Genetic mutation can be directly in gene also , knows as gene mutation, where the mutation occurs in the polymorphic region of the gene that mostly changes the function of the gene.
Types of gene mutation includes , insertion, deletion, inversion, substitution, duplication.
Change in number of chromosome or structure of chromosome , regarded a s chromosomal mutation is also a type of genetic mutation.
For example sickle cell anaemia is a type of genetic mutation, a single missense mutation in the beta haemoglobin gene , codon changes from GAG to GUG. This creates a condition which actually helps the person to fight of malaria if only one allele is affected by this mutation.
