Describe two modern technological advances in genomics research and give an example of how they could be used in research to solve a problem
Genomic researches are done for the analysis of genomic information. The tools were invented with the DNA cloning technique during 70's of 20th century.
The technological advancement includes high-throughput sequencing, genetic engineering, gene therapy, Next-generation DNA & RNA sequencing and microarray based CGH. These tools act as frontline advanced technological tools fo genomic research and analysis. These tools provide the evidence of any correlation between genotype & phenotype in human diseases.
Apart from these tools bioinformatics tool also helps in annotating the genome and genome wide association studies (GWAS) which provide aid during the interpretation of genetic variants at individual level. This unlock the possibilities for making personalized medicine of a targeted disease. However high-throghput sequencing and bioinformatics have certain limitation but ther are possibilities that these lags can be overcome. There are chances that using more than one tool can be the effective tool to develop treatment of any disease.
Apart from these tools one more recent advanced tool playing its key role in gene therapy. This tool is CRISPR ( Cluster of regularly interspersed short palindromic sequence) technology which is providing aid in gene therapy for various diseases.
