Testing syphilis, researchers put syphilis cells on twenty normal rats and randomly assigned ten of these rats to be treated with antibodies. Only 1/10 rats treated with antibodies had the syphilis spread, while all 10 rats in the control group had the syphilis spread. Compare the proportions of rats with syphilis spread in these two condiitons.
For the rats, calculate a plus four estimate for the proportion of rats with syphilis spread in the treatment group AND the proportion of rats with syphilis spread in the control group.
With ninety-five percent confidence calculate a 95% plus four interval for Ptreatment-Pcontrol
Can you appropriately test these two proportions are different at a five percent significance level? Why?
Since above confidence interval does not contain value 0 , we can conclude that the two proportions are different at 5% level of significance.
