Describe how NKT cells and gamma/delta T cells are different from alpha/beta T cells
Natural killerT cells are T cell recptors with alpha and beta chain which recognize lipid antigens. They share the properties of both Tcells and natural killer cells. They recognize CD1 molecule. They recognize self and foriegn lipids and glycolipids. They are T-Cells that express alpha beta T cell receptor.NKT cells produce interferon gamma, interleukin and granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor. They enhance humoral immunity, support B cells and helps in targetting B cell vaccines. They prevent several auto immine disese and cancer.
Gama delta T cells are cells with T cell receptor on the surface. They have Tcell receptor made up of one gama and one delta chain. They are seen in gut mucosa whic contain epithelial lymphocytes. They do not require antigen processing and MHC presentation of peptide epitopes. They also recognize lipid antigens and are triggered by heat shock protiens. They are developed by the influence of leukocytes in thymus. They may sometimes leads to infection and also favours adaptive immunity.Gama and delta 17T cell accumulate in the adipose tissue and controls homeostasis of regulatorty T cell and maintain core body temperature. They also helps B cell to produce auto antibodies, suppress inflammation and effective in cancer therapy.
Alpha and Beta T cells made up of glycoprotien chains. They are T cell receptor chains. They recognize foriegn antigen and bind only to antigen presented MHC molecule. They are disulphide linked chain and have N terminal Ig. MHC bind to peptide derived by cell, intracellular pathogen or phagocytosed material. Alpha and Beta cells are derived into two subsets based on CD4 and CD8 receptor. CD4 bind to MHCII and CD8 to MHCI.
