JIT Just In Time with respect to manufacturing refers to the production of goods in order to meet customer demand exactly in time, quantity and quality, whether the customer is the final purchaser of product or another process along the production line, it refers to a mean to produce minimum waste and thus includes the following element-

  • Creating system in order to identify problem.
  • Quality is controlled at the source itself, each worker is responsible for the quality of their own work.
  • Good housekkeping- workplace cleanliness and organisation.
  • Set up time reduction
  • Providing machinery with autonomous capability to use judgement.
  • To ensure the smooth flow of goods fron the factory.

JIT in service sector - In a business system the service system refers to the production of certain intangible product that adds value and certain utility for example in a hospital business the patient are receiving intangible services of health care from doctor and nurses

The following are some of the elements that are included in JIT service system

a- Service company have to reduce the inventory material , paper, files and others companies that belongs to health sector, insurance, educational institute, restuarant and warehousing and other such companies uses this concept.

b- It enhances flexibility as trhe employees are in a position to identify ways in order to improve the operation.

c- Layout in service system is an important as its includes customers

d- with quality we mean zero defects helps in improving the service quality by following certain peinciples
