WHAT IS OUR ROLE AS KEEPERS OF THIS PLANET. HOW DO WE DEAL WITH THE DIFFERENT CULTURES THAT HAVE LESS REGARD FOR NON HUMAN SPECIES.

Our role as keepers of the planet:

Being regarded as the most intelligent species on the planet, the humans have been bestowed upon with a primary duty to conserve the planet along with the various other species inhabiting the earth. Let us summarise some of the roles of human beings:

1. reducing pollution: the increasing pollution is a call for cutting down on our harmful activities and maintaining the optimum levels for survival. Afforestation and green initiatives along with sustainable development shoukd be the goal in this regard.
2. conserving water: it has been said that the 3rd world war would be on water. With the rising levels of pollutants and lowering groundwater levels, it should be our role to innovate water conservation mechanisms along with a revival of traditional methods such as rainwater harvesting.
3. wildlife conservation: say no to fur and leather or any illicitly traded animal products that you come across. Adopt for vegetarianism as a healthy way of life.
4. avoiding plastic: carry your own bag while shopping and refrain from accepting plastic bags at all cost.
5. recycle: 5 R principle- reduce, reuse, recycle, refrain, restrain should be the agenda for a new decade.

Dealing with cultures that have a less regard for non human species:

1. awareness: this is a key to reviving and strengthening our agenda to protect the planet. This might induce further changes in the mindset of an individual which is essential for the overall development of a person as a keeper of the planet and its resources
2. behavioural changes: self change and change at home is a pre requisite in changing the society as a whole.
3. organising conferences: to further strengthen your voice on the opinion . Publications might also help for the same.
4. eco tourism: in order to create a zeal in the individuals towards the benefit of a sustainable environment.
5. creating community clubs: in the school/society/locality to promote your cause and disseminate your message to a large number of people.
