For over two decades, the alignment between Information Management (IM) and Information systems (IS) strategy has consistently been ranked amongst the top IS and business management concerns. Information management entails the process of managing information as a strategic resource for improving organizational performance. In this paper, you are expected to reflect on the problem of IS-IM strategy alignment, examine the implications of (mis)alignment for organizational performance, and explore the relationship between the alignment concept and complementary concepts (e.g. IS capability, Data, knowledge management) and practices (e.g. strategic IM planning, business strategy, knowledge management strategy).

Reflect on the problem of IS-IM strategy alignment: The following are the key problems in alignment of the IS-IM strategy as below
· The database is not suitable for capturing future needed information for the organization, thus the information managed over the period is not much useful for the organization.
· The lack of possibility for quick updation of database for capturing changes in information management leads to problem in capturing key required information.
· The design content of information capturing and storage is not suitable for future data and information requirements.
· Information system or information management database’s management for a long time is complex tasks and it needs much back up supports for ensuring the smooth data and information storage.
· The on-going changes in market or consumer interests make the major problem for data and information management for the company.
· The changes in strategy with time are the key reason for misalignment of information system or information management.
Examination of implications of mis-alignment for organizational performance:
· The performance of the organization gets impacted due to lack of information system or information management alignment with the strategy of the company.
· The company may have lowered sale, revenue and profit generation for the company due to lack of quality information for business decision.
· The company will not be able to make quality decision due to lack of adequate information management for the company.
· The company feels uncomfortable due to misalignment of IM-IS
Relationship between the alignment concept and complementary concepts (e.g. IS capability, Data, knowledge management) and practices (e.g. strategic IM planning, business strategy, knowledge management strategy).
The alignment concept and complementary concepts has the relation among them such that the complementary concept helps the alignment concept. The complementary concept supports the alignment concept by providing the desired information for the future requirement for the company.
Strategic IM planning, business strategy, knowledge management strategy are the strategy to improves the IM-IS for the future requirements of the company and they will provide the desired set of information for the company so that they can use it for their future requirements.
