4. Looking at the University as an institution of higher learning over the past two decades. Do you think we have made significant progress as a university in a developing country? Why or Why not?
Universities are institutions for development and enhancement of knowledge. Now a days people are joining in universities just for preparing for careers. Universities have very much important role in taking part in many policies. These are tresures of creative knowledge and it provides as many as skilled faculties and personalls . Universities are the agents of social justice and social change.
Although these are the roles of universities ,they fail to address certain rules
1. Universities are indepentent global institutions - When properly governed by a skilled personnel universities will be durable and effective in enhancing educational system. These institutions are an aggregrate of talents ,passion, creativity and idealism. With proper planning and with an impartial approach(ie free from culture, religiosity etc) universities can become the centers of economic and social wellbeing.
2. Universities must adapt and innovate- Universities must me flexible enough to adapt the new policies of government and it must be able to create their own clear agendas in developing discipline in universities.
3. Universities must give importance to individuals- Todays universities are giving priority to faculties rather than students. Universities should provide unique environment, which will shape their students creative and enable them acquire variety of skills and make them sharp and brilliant thinkers
4. It must be free from unhealthy politics- Todays universities are bounded to different kinds of unhealthy political practices. Eventhough modification and growth is possible, todays universitiy activities are centrered around political ideologies . People are not able to invole in impartial decision making process because of the influence of politics.
As innovation and adjustment are very much needed in our international higher education infrastructure and in our global development institutions. We must try hard to built up our wishes and dreams instead of simply mugging up and replicating the already existing rules and policies. We should be able to adopt new ideologies and theories and that will help to foster our global development.
