[Optics problem- please provided detailed solution, thanks]
The Fresnel reflection loss from air (n1 = 1) to glass (n2=1.5) is typically about 4%. To minimize the reflection loss, one can coat a layer of a material that has refractive index n3 = sqrt(n1*n2) with a thickness that lead to destructive interference. If our central wavelength is 600 nm, what is the minimum thickness of this AR coating? What is the minimum reflection coefficient at central wavelength? (Mandatory for graduate students:) What is the bandwidth of the AR coating? You can define the bandwidth such that the reflection coefficient is no more than twice the minimum reflection coefficient). You can use Matlab to find the numerical results.
