As your organization "Vitamin Shoppe is implementing its strategy, how will it evaluate what is occurring so that the root causes of the gaps between the plan and the actions and results are identified?
While implementing a strategy, sometimes there is a gap between what is actually planed and what in reality is achieved by the organisation. This is called performance gap. Following steps could be taken to identify the root cause of gaps between the plan, actions and results –
Gathering data regarding performance of employees – Firstly in order to indentify the root causes, management must gather information regarding the skills and working of employees. They should know whether the employees are working as per their skill, their performances should be compared with the past performances and with their team members. When skill gaps are identified they will get the cause of performance gap.
Clarity about the plan and objective - Management must check whether all the employees are clear about the plan and objective of organisation They must closely monitor all the steps of employee weather they are going in the same direction or not. Sometimes there is a performance gap because all the employees are not clear about the plan and objective of the company. So, it must be evaluated by time to time that all the employees must clearly know about all the plans in detail.
Mapping – Mapping helps in providing the information about the work of all the employees. It provides a blueprint against which the performance of all the employees is compared. If any employee is not going as per set blueprint, the gap is identified there and then and actions are taken to reduce the cause of such gap.
