Cognitive Behavior paradigm places emphasis not on the effects of the situation that an individual encounters during their lifes span but it places emphasis on the manner in which these situations are perceived by the given individuals.
It deals with the cognitive (thought) aspect of the mind, and how these thoughts act in order to elicit a reaction in the form of our behavior. These are the two important factors from wherein the entire paradigm draws its inspiration and functions.
Factors that cut across paradigm are emotions and sociocultural factors.
Emotions guide are behavior according to certain situations and they are the ones that drive our behavior thus across situations as well. Regulation and control of these emotions decides are success with respect to stress and relationships.
It is important to assess behavior through paradigms as it gives perspective and varying insight into drivers of behavior, and it also gives a framework that can be followed in order to understand this phenomenon better.
