You try to live strictly by the moral rules contained in your religion's moral code The two most important rules are "Be merciful" (don't give people what they deserve) and "Be just" (give people exactly what they deserve) Now suppose a man is arrested for stealing food fram your house, and the police leave it up to you whether he should be prosecuted far his crime or set free Should you be merciful and set him free or be just and make sure he is appropriately punished? How do you resolve this confict of rules? Can your moral code resolve it? To what moral principles or theones do you appeal?
it is an essay, could you please do it for me
I will try to be merciful to the person who had been involved in a theft from my house and I will be trying to know the reasons for the theft and accordingly decide by my level of being judgemental and decisive according to the moral principles as well as the legal considerations.
I would be trying to know the prime motive behind the theft and if I found out the theft was to commit for some moral issues I would be trying to forgive the person like that would have been committed for fulfillment of some hunger issues or saving some lives then I would be merciful to thief and if the theft would have been committed for fulfillment of greed, then I would not be merciful to the thief and I would be handing over to the the regulatory authority and I would be following up with the legal course of action.
I would always be looking for the motive behind the theft, because even a crime will have a motive so iif the purpose of the thief was morally justified then I will be trying to forgive the thief.
