Expert Solution

PSL:

PSL's are called Personal Seat license which can be defined as a license to own a specific seat for the entire season. The genesis of the idea was between 1980 and 1990 as a means to meet the financial aspects of the stadium. Any individual with a personal seat license can sell his/her seats when they are not interest in purchasing season tickets. The PSL has to be renewed every year for the individual to enjoy the rights to the seat.

Are the PSL fair to fans?

No, the origin of the PSL idea had nothing to do with enhancing the fan's experience in the stadium but was to anchor the finance of the costs incurred in the stadium. Some of the reasons the PSL is not fair are

  • i. the fans have to buy a new PSL if the team moves to a new stadium or builds a new stadium.
  • ii. the prices for the PSL costs the fans a lot in buying season tickets.
  • iii. Since fans travel from distance if the team moves to a new stadium, the total expenses to have a PSL might not be worth all that.
