a) Characteristics of effective goal
- Specific and well defined - is the main base of
of any goal. If a particular person knows where to start and does
not know where to end then it would not be considered as a goal.
Staying specific and will define helps the business to move
forward.
- Measurable in nature - it means a goal should
have a score board where the progress of everyday can be seen. The
score board will help to know that how much goal has been achieved
and how much is left.
- Achievable or realistic - what is a goal is
selected should be selected in such a way that it can be performed
by every individual without any hesitation. Setting up up the goal
to high may lead to failure and it may lead to demoralization of
the employees.
- Relevant to the job - the goal
that is set up should be relevant to the the given job description.
Whether or not if a person is setting up goals for the company,
employee it should keep in mind the companies mission and
vision.
- Timed for success - a goal
should be achieved within a specified time. Therefore a time should
be set up for completion of the goal. If the deadline is not given
then it is impossible to achieve the goal.

- Specific and well defined goal
- Hiring a personal assistant to look after the sale's unit of the
company
- Measurable in nature - Goal is
to make 100 cold calls in 8 hrs a tally sheet will easily help in
measuring the number of calls made in 8hrs.
- Achievable or realistic - The
monthly sales target is too sell atleast 10 products in a week, but
if it is increased to 20 then it would be to high.
- Relevant to the job - A sales
representative will have a goal to achieve his or her monthly
target and a customer service executive will have a goal to help
the customer and resolve the problem.
- Timed for success - A sales
representative needs to achieve sales of Rs 40000/- a month, then
he or she needs to make sure to atleast Rs 10000/- a week or in a
day the target should be Rs 1000/- or more. Then only by the end of
the month the sales which be achieved.
