Describe several types of defensive mechanisms ( both passive types and active types) that prey use to avoid capture and/ or defend themselves from predators.
Anti predator adaptations could be referred to as the mechanisms that would be developed by the prey so as to assist them to stay away from predators. For the prey, the first line of defence would be aimed so as to acrid any forms of detection. The common mechanisms include, apostatise selection, masquerade, camouflage. Also, they may be warding off attack through presenting stronger defences, such as mimicking, aposematism,. Also, they may be startling the attacker as they would be signaling the predator through distractions.
The prey would also be fighting against the predators through spines or by living in groups. The species would be fighting of predators through chemicals, or through ejection of noxious materials or by communal defences. Some may flee fast or outrun the attacker.
