A steam turbine operates adiabatically with a steam rate of 25 kg/s. Due to frication and mechanical reason, the turbine operates irreversibly. The steam at inlet of the turbine is at 1300 kPa and 400 oC and discharges at 40 kPa and 100 oC.
(1) What is the power output of the turbine?
(2) Calculate the efficiency of the turbine (adiabatically irreversible) in comparison with a turbine that operate reversibly and adiabatically from the same initial conditions (1300 kPa and 400 oC) to the same final pressure of 40 kPa.
