Giardia lamblia is the parasite which causes the giardiasis which is the infection of the intestine.

These parasites used to come in the body from the contaminated food and water and these parasites are also found in the stool of the animals when they are affected.

So by contaminated sorrounding food and water these parasites goes in the human host and causes the giardiasis.

These parasites are enclosed in the capsules or the shell and they releases themselve in the human host forming the trophozoites there.

These parasites attaches them on the wall intestine and prevents or disturbs the absorption of nutrient fat and carbohydrates and causes the diarrhea which is sometimes sticky and foul smelly also.

This is most prevalent diseases found in india and is very common.

This infection is purely a cause of the poor hygiene and sorrounding and it can live for very long outside so can affect more.

There are various other symptoms too other than diarrhoea , they are fatigue , nausea , vommiting , excessive gas formation etc.

These are diagnosed with the help of the stool sample and presence of parasite in it is seen and various antimicrobial agent specifically

Metronidazole and tinidazole are given for this with other symptomatic treatment.

So this was the cause that they attack the lining of the small intestine and they also disturbs and damages the function of brush border and villi functions.
